It's only days before Burns Night, but you still have time to order your favorite tartan (my new custom kilt is currently en route from Scotland as we speak and was ordered from the Scotland Shop), send out your invitations, choose your favorite Burns poems (my favorite is To a Mouse), and plan your menu.
To help you get started with your planning, I have included a must have drink recipe for the evening - a Hot Toddy (courtesy of Epicurious.com). It's one of my favorite drinks for the occasion, although I usually add a small bit of sugar to taste.
Makes 1 drink
1 oz (2 tablespoons) bourbon
1 tablespoon mild honey
2 teaspoons fresh lemon juice
1/4 cup boiling-hot water
Put bourbon, honey, and lemon juice in a 6-ounce mug. Top off with hot water and stir until honey is dissolved.
